Culture Trip is the trusted shortcut to booking travel that’s good, and makes you feel good. In one single platform, our customers can discover and book spot-on stays and experiences, hand-picked by a global community of travel experts and local insiders.
In 2011, Culture Trip was created to inspire people to go beyond their cultural boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and culture, special, unique and meaningful. Fast forward to today, Culture Trip – headquartered in London, with offices in New York and Tel Aviv – has become the essential travel companion and has evolved as a travel e-commerce brand with content at its heart. This is a unique proposition in a market that is dominated by the more utilitarian OTAs (online travel agencies), UGC (user generated content) and price comparison sites.
Culture Trip is different because for a decade now its global community of travel experts and local insiders have hand-picked the world’s best bits to share travel stories and unbiased recommendations, together with curated collections of places to stay, hotels, things to do and experiences that can be booked online. Culture Trip inspires people – and enables them to turn this inspiration directly into reality, all in one place.
And because booking travel with confidence is more important now than ever, Culture Trip is committed to making it hassle-free and helping travellers get it right, before and during every precious trip.
While travel might be restricted right now, the universal need to experience the world never is. That’s why Culture Trip’s ‘Stay Safe, Stay Curious’ campaign is an invitation to explore and experience our own cities and countries, and get outdoors where possible. In 2020, Culture Trip also launched virtual experiences such as online cooking classes that can be enjoyed from home to connect with local experiences around the world.
Culture Trip has millions of visitors to its site every month, app downloads have leapt to almost 3 million, social followers have increased to over 8 million and our videos have been viewed more than 2 billion times.
Since 2019, Culture Trip won more than 30 awards for its inspirational content, and its work for brand partners and advertising clients, including 16 Telly awards, 10 Muse Creative awards, 2 Webby awards, 2 Lovie awards, the Travel Media’s Consumer Publication Of The Year Award. The Culture Trip app was named App of the Day by Apple in the US and the UK.
Apple’s iOS App of the Day: “You’ll never feel out of the loop again.”
How Culture Trip came about:
“It started with a bookshelf”
Academic psychiatrist Dr Kris Naudts – today the Chairman of Culture Trip – stood in front of a bookshelf in his West Indian friend’s apartment and realised he hardly recognised any of the books in his friend’s collection. As a book lover himself, he wondered how this library of ideas and culture could have passed him by and how he could solve the problem.
And so the idea for Culture Trip was born – create a space online where people could go before they travelled somewhere new to find stories by local creators and feel more connected to the world around them.
Since 2011, Culture Trip has been using technology to enable a global network of local contributors – including writers, filmmakers, photographers, illustrators and animators – to create travel stories and recommendations that reveal what is unique and special about a place, its people and its culture. With this unique content at its heart, Culture Trip has now evolved as a travel e-commerce brand.
